Welcome to BarreBarreBella!

My name is Melissa Alder. I’m a mother, a wife, a certified personal fitness trainer, a Barre and Ballet instructor, a lawyer, a Yoga Alliance-certified RYT yoga instructor, Whovian, and I needed something to do with my free time, so now I’m blogging!

Have you ever seen a dancer’s legs? Arms? Or viewed the demonstration of strength necessary to fling his or her own body weight through the air? Barre work can help to develop a lot of the same.*

Here you can learn my fitness tips, watch quick workouts you can do anywhere, or (soon!)  you can get longer workouts on demand.

We have recipe suggestions for busy parents, non-parents, and anyone who wants a meal or snack for anything from a special occasion to a lunch on the go to snacks or family dinners on a weeknight.

We also have tips for DIY health and beauty products.

* In order to get a body like Misty Copeland, you need to dance and do conditioning for hours and hours every day (and have great genes). This is my disclaimer regarding promises: you will look and feel better as long as you undertake — and stick with —  a safe and healthy workout and eating plan. This blog, its suggestions and workouts, nor any other, will make you into Margot Fontaine or Misty Copeland or even your kids’ dance teacher. Newsflash: a water aerobics class won’t turn you into Michael Phelps, either.
